Shutterbugs know how difficult it is to get close-up pictures of birds. Not in this case.
 
Specimens like this can be found all over the beach. Probably that's the reason for the smell?
 
Probably all these birds drank too much salt water?
 
Fish that make it into the Salt Lake through its many sweet water feeders do not survive the high salt concentration for long. Probably the salt is also the reason for this dead bird.
